Axis X Bass Drum Pedal Review
There’s Better Drumming Just Around the Learning Curve!
Every Axis bass pedal is crafted to be user friendly. The goal is to take a style of pedal drummers are familiar with and take it to a new level of quality and performance. The Axis X, or AX-X, is available as a double, in the AX-X2, and will be welcomed by those comfortable playing chain drive pedals, but are looking to generate more power with greater feel. The power is produced with beater forward design, a wider board to reduce miss-hits, and durable aluminum and steel. The machined aircraft aluminum is light, yet sturdy, and will take the punishment delivered. Fluidity is achieved with the use of more ball-bearings, while the direct pull linkage makes for fantastic responsiveness. The beater is robust, but not especially heavy.
Axis built its reputation in Rock, and more recently, Speed. But the AX-X is a versatile bass pedal that Jazz and Alternative drummers are gravitating to, as well. Users will tell you it takes a while to get comfortable with the Axis-X, but once familiar with it, they enjoy the optimized control that allows them to produce the right punch every time. Some durability issues have arisen, and replacement parts can be slow in arriving. Put the tools Axis includes in a handy place, and make good use of them. Keeping everything tight and adjusted to your style will reduce wear and tear and an early demise for your bass pedal.
